This Twitter Phenomenon is gettig out of hand!

For all of you that are twitter fanatics, this story is bound to get your attention. If you watch CNN, I’m sure you have already heard Ashton Kutcher Challenge CNN the other day. Kutcher said that he would reach to 1,000,000 Twitter followers before CNN would. And Kutcher made the mark at 2 AM today. Then right after CNN made the mark. Isn’t that a funny story? That’s why I say that this twitter thing is getting out of hand…. even Oprah enjoyed Twitter as well. Now that this Twitter craze has gotten to the celebrities, it brings even more people and fans to join so that they can talk to Celebs or so they think they are talking to them. When Kutcher broadcast his victory online, he popped chamapagne and thanked all his followers because without them, it wouldn’t have been possible. Such a silly challenge but then again its Ashton Kutcher, Mr. “Punk’d” himself. Only he would come up with something like that and challenge someone like Ted Turner on CNN. That helps get more people on Twitter and watching CNN more when you think about it. He’s a smarter man than we give him credit that Ashton.

A new edition to the Obama Family...

Today the most interesting news was the arrival of the new family dog in the White House. The dog's name is Bo and he is a Portuguese water dog. The Obama spent several minutes taking their new little addition out on a lively romp over the South Lawn with frequent stops for hearty sniffs at its new surroundings. Even before Barack Obama became president, his daughters had mentioned that they wanted a dog. President Obama promised his little girls just that because of the long months of traveling for the presidential campaign with him. Bo is a pure bred dog because Malia is allergic to dog hair and Portuguese water dogs do not shed, even though President Obama wanted a Mutt instead. That is very interesting fact. Bo's breeder happened to be the breeder of Sen. Ted Kennedy's Portuguese water dogs, and when Kennedy learned the puppy was available,he wanted to give the puppy to the Obamas. "Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan told the Obamas that Portuguese water dogs are active breeds and will need long walks and will need to understand quickly who is the "pack leader." President Obama established that everyone will take turns in walking the Bo. The real question is where will Bo be sleeping? President Obama said anywhere except his bedroom. "The only concern we have is that apparently, Portuguese water dogs like tomatoes. Michelle's garden is in danger," President Obama told CNN."We don't have tomatoes," the first lady said. "Not yet," Obama reminded.
"He doesn't know how to swim," little 7-year-old Sasha mentioned."Apparently they have to be taught how to swim," the president said. "They have webbed feet. And they herd fish for the fishermen in Portugal. That is what we've heard." The Obama's seem to be well informed of their new dog Bo's special breed. This Portuguese Water Dog is pretty unique and now is going to become the most popular dog in the country.

Will the restrictions to be able to travel to Cuba be lifted?

Ever since President Barack Obama has been elected, one of the things he said he wanted to change was to remove the restrictions for people to be able to travel to Cuba. With Fidel Castro no longer being Cuba's President, there seems to be hopes in changes within Cuba and the United States. There's a state law that was ruled in 2008 towards increasing regulations on agencies selling trips to Cuba which make it harder for people to book flights from South Florida.Michelle R. Bennett, an attorney for the U.S. Justice Department said ''They are unconstitutional and preempted by federal law," when discussing the requirements passed by the legislature last year that increased the amount of bond money and registration fees agencies specializing in trips to Cuba. In the Miami Herald it stated that the state law, which requires the agencies to post up to a $250,000 bond and pay up to $2,500 in registration fees, is at the center of a lawsuit filed in July against the state by more than a dozen local travel agency owners. For now, the Cuban exiles can travel to Cuba once every year and stay as long as they like, a move that overturned a Bush administration policy that allowed visits only once every three years. There has been a mentioning that Obama will be announce the lifting of the remaining restrictions on Cuban family travel and remittances to coincide in next week's Fifth Summit of the Americas in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The problem lies in the fact that if there fewer traveling agencies around to sell the trips. State Representative David Rivera has begun pressing the issue of traveling to Cuba. He has introduced a clause to the state's education budget that prohibits the use of state funds for academic trips to the island. Hopefully there will be a solution to this problem with travelling to Cuba for all those Cuban Americans or Cubans with loved ones that they haven't seen in years. There should be some compassion for those that are affected under this restriction.

12 year old boy genius attends FIU as a Freshman

Sky Choi, a 12 year old from Pembroke Pines, is a sixth grader who is also attending Florida International University. Choi is doing dual enrollment and taking classes such as Physics, Calculus, and Intermediate Conversations. It's incredible for a teenager to be able to handle such a hectic schedule. Choi told CBS4 when asked if he had any friends, " Most of my friends are at FIU." Sky Choi entered high school at the age of 9 and will be graduating in May. Today, Thursday April 9, Choi has his Chinese conversation classes with several other students that are all older than him. But for Choi it doesn't seem so difficult. At the tender age of three, Choi was speaking and reading both English and Korean. Now, Choi can add Latin and Chinese to his list of languages." You can ask, I'm quite strict with my standards, and I do not let anyone off the hook" said his Chinese Professor, Li Ma, who acknowledges that Choi is just a kid but knows what he is capable of. The boy genius at FIU has scored a 99% of the population on the IQ and Achievement tests. Sky Choi has a thirst for knowledge that is unstoppable and at this rate, he can only excel to greater things. When he grows up Choi would like to be a Physician or Teacher.

It is interesting to see that there is such an intellegent child attending a Univeristy such as FIU, what a honor.

A Miami landmark is in trouble and is asking for a bailout!

In the Miami Herald today, there is an article about the Miami Children Museum asking for a bailout from the city of Miami. They are asking for a 400,000 dollar loan in order to take care of loan obligations. There have been regular donors that have cut back support to the museum and that hurts the museum because they are a non-profit organization and have been open since September of 2003. City officials are saying that they may rescue the museum with funds from the federal stimulus bill championed by President Obama. But will President Obama help save the Musuem because there is also Jungle Island, who are neighbors of the Museum on Watson Island, asking for a bailout as well. The difference is that Jungle Island is a profitted organization and they do not have a charter school to maintain like the Miami Children's Museum does. The Herald said that Kelly Penton, a spokeswoman for the city of Miami, wrote in an e-mail that the city ''is looking into the possibility'' of using stimulus dollars to help the museum. Even though people are still going to the museum and doing filedtrips and parties, the donations that the museum use to get has decreased to 40 percent. If a landmark such as the Miami Children's Musuem closes, where will the children go to learn and have fun? It's going to be up to the city of Miami and President Barack Obama to decide if the museum is a place worth saving. I, for one, can say have being a visitor, volunteer, and former employee that the Miami Children's Museum is a educational and fun place that every child and adult in South Florida should visit. It's a place where everyone can be a kid again and learn something new as well. Hopefully the institution gets saved with the bailout.

Think of the worst thing that can go wrong when proposing....

Well to Don Walling the worst thing that you could think of to go wrong during a proposal happened. It's a headling story today: Don Walling was on the Brooklyn Bridge with his girlfriend and had arranged to propose to her in front of his family and friends. Just as he was about to open the box while he was on one knee, the ring falls through a crack on the bridge! UNBELIEVEABLE! Walling claims that it flew out the box and through a crack on the wooden planks on the bridge down to the bridge's roadway during on going traffic. He went down and was able to get the ring without getting hurt. Unfortunately, the ring was bent due to the fall. But the diamonds were still intact luckily. Don Walling's girlfriend Gina Pellicani the second time around for the proposal said " I DO" and then she was no longer his girlfriend, she was his fiance. They said they will fix the ring but thanks to the help of his friends and family, Walling was able to find the ring and nothave to buy another one. Poor guy, he had it all planned out and never expected something like that to happen to him during such an important and special moment like that.

Obama reaching out to all types of media....

On Tuesday night, March 24, President Obama gave a news conference that was televised across the country. This conference was a little different than the past conferences because he skipped over several prominent newspapers and newsmagazines to call on Kevin Chappell, a senior editor at Ebony magazine. Besides the conference he also invited Black Enterprise magazine for their first print interview and gave a black talk show host one of his first radio interviews. This month, he invited 50 black newspaper publishers to meet with him at the White House. That was the first time an Ebony reporter had been invited to question a president at a prime-time news conference. This shows that President Obama is trying to reach out to all types of media. By reaching out to Journalists of the black and Hispanic media, President Obama will have even more people celebrating him and not discriminating him by saying he’s only choosing to speak to general media. When he goes on Hispanic news channels like Univision and demonstrates his Spanish-speaking skills that make him stand out to those Hispanics that votes for him and shows the one that didn’t that he can relate to them as well even if he’s not Hispanic. By doing this, Black Entertainment Television, Essence, Ebony, are having journalists do presidential coverage’s per show or issue which shows their support to our President Obama.

Crazy fan stalking a "Star"...

The news reported that on Tuesday, March 24, Robert O’ Ryan was arrested on the set of Dancing with the Stars for jumping the security fence to try to get to Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson. Apparently he is a fan of seventeen-year-old Johnson and drove from Florida to see her in person. When police investigated his car, they found duct tape, loaded guns, and love letters. Johnson handled the situation very well and continued on with the show. The 34-year-old O'Ryan was charged Thursday with one felony count of stalking and two misdemeanor counts of carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle and pleaded not guilty on his charges. A restraining order has been put by Johnson’s parents from O’ Ryan. There is a pending trial and if convicted, the stalker can be sentenced for up to four years in prison. It must be horrible to be Shawn Johnson right now and be afraid of this stalker coming after her again. Hopefully nothing happens and she continues doing well on “dancing with the star”. Since Shawn Johnson was in the Olympics, she has become a celebrity so it’s no wonder that she has gotten such a fan base. It’s ok to have fans but not creepy fans that want to have babies with you when you are underage, just like her stalker claimed to have said. There is a price to fame.

Could Natasha Richardson been saved if she had a helicopter??

It's been on the news all week and Natasha Richardson's death became official on Wednesday. Richardson died due to a fall on a beginner's slopes in Quebec but she didn't die right there. After Richardson was taken to a hospital in Montreal on Tuesday and then was flown in to a New York hospital for further examination. Richardson suffered of epidural hematoma due to blunt force trauma to the head. Now ABC's news is saying that maybe she could have been saved if they might have used a helicopter to get her to the hospital right after she fell. Even though she got back up, she told her husband Liam Neeson that she wasn't feeling well. Richardson should have been attended right after the fact because now she is no longer with us. The thing is that Quebec does not have a medical helicopter assistance and the drive to the trauma center they took her was 2 1/2 hours away. That's way too long of a drive and especially under Richardson's condition. It's no wonder that she suffered the way she did and when her family finally saw her, she was no longer there. Unfortunately in this situation, there is no one to blame or punish for this tragedy. May Natasha Richardson rest in peace and condolences goes out to her family.

A tragedy and possibly an end to an athletes career…

This past Saturday, football player of the Cleveland Browns Donte’ Stallworth, was driving the MacArthur Causeway and struck and killed a man by the name of Mario Reyes. Reyes was just coming off from working as an overnight crane operator and trying to cross the street to catch a bus home just after 7 a.m. Reyes died instantly at the scene. Whether Stallworth was under the influence or not is still to be determined and is under close investigation. The Miami Herald has a video on their website that shows Stallworth being given a sobriety test and Miami Beach rescue workers trying to help Reyes. This obviously made headlines all through the news because Stallworth is a star athlete and this could not only sentence him to a lifetime in prison, it could also damage his career in the NFL forever. There is definitely a serious matter but there is nothing that can be taken back, Reyes is gone. Would it be terrible if Stallworth gets off easy with just a slap in the wrist and nothing more? Even if he is really sorry and was not under the influence? All these things will be examined over the next couple of weeks. But what can not be taken care of is the loss of Mario Reyes to his family and loved ones. Hopefully this investigation brings some light onto this tragedy and hopefully Stallworth pays for what he did. Because Stallworth’s condolences will not make up for the loss he is blamed for.

Justice is finally served for Anna Nicole Smith..

All over the news you see that Howard K. Stern was arrested, along with two other doctors named Drs. Khristine Eroshevich and Sandeep Kapoor, for giving Anna Nicole Smith perscription drugs with out them being perscribed, which led to her death in 2007. The once playboy model and guess model Anna Nicole, had an addiction to popping pills and it was reported to have gotten worse when her 20 year old son, Daniel Smith, passed away in 2006. Daniel Smith also died of a drug overdose, a couple days after Anna Nicole gave birth to a baby girl. Howard K. Stern, during the time of Smith's baby girl's birth, was claiming to be the little girl's father. The real father was Anna Nicole Smith's photographer boyfriend, Larry Birkhead. Smith was made a star by her deceased husband, J. Howard Marshall II, the Texas oil billionaire, that was an older man that fell in love with her and took her in. Despite the horrible things she did or said to others, Anna Nicole Smith was a human being and was surrounded by evil people that wanted to ruin her career and destroy her emotionally. And they did, only much worse. Stern and the doctors knew that she was not well and yet they "pumped" these drugs into her until Smith got out of hand and O.D. herself. It's sad that she ended like that because who knows how far her career would have taken her had she not let herself go like that. Also by being so self destructive, possibly her son picked up on it as well, and that's how he ended his life. The news is stating that Howard K. Stern was the enabler for perscribing a thousand pills to Anna Nicole Smith. This could probably close the case on Ms. Anna Nicole Smith's death and possibly her son Daniel Smith as well. Justice has been served and may Anna rest in piece now.

The most popular and most talked about movie of the year!

Even before the Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire was the most talked about movie in 08-09. It's been in magazines, newspapers, and television channels; the astounding success this movie has had world -wide is incredible. At first glance at the commercials, the movie seems strange and not interesting. But after viewing it, the movie just changes the perspective you first had of it and you end up liking it so much. The critics had it right and that's why it won so many awards. It seems everyone came out of the movie theater dancing and having nothing but good remarks on the film. The fact that it's not an American movie and it became such a hit at the box office was amazing. The film had a different style for the fims most americans are use to seeing. It's about a boy who grows up with a girl friend, falls in love with her, and are then seperated. The boy goes out on a search to find his true love by going on Who wants to be a millionaire in India. Danny Boyle, the director of this film, is a genius. To come up with such an interesting story plot and film it the way he did. For those who haven't seen it, don't waste time and go rent it. i don't always agree with what I see or hear in the media, but this time, I felt the exact same way they did. The best film of 2008 goes to Slumdog Millionaire.

Why dont they leave OBAMA alone!?

Since Obama officially became our president back in January, some people argue that he has not done much. That our brand new president has done nothing of his presidential duties. They say he's all talk on the television and that he hasn't acted on anything he has said. Just like last week, president Obama was caught at a Chicago Bulls basketball game. The news follows him everywhere like papazazzis when he's trying to live his life like a normal person. Can't president Obama go to a Bulls games in his hometown and drink a beer as well!! He's just like the rest of us, except he's our new president. Then there are other reports about Obama is now homosexual, I mean c'mon. Obama is always seen with Michelle and his lovely daughters. I know that doesn't mean anything, but how affectionate he is with his wife does mean something. It just bothers me that people are writing such idiotic things about our new leader. They should be instead having faith in him and be happy a change has come to our nation. There are so many ignorant and racists people out there. It pisses me off! I only hope these stupid rumors cease and they let our president do what he has to do... at his own pace. Some people do not realize that Bush took 8 years to ruin this country and bring us to where we are right now. It's going to take a long time for this country to be the way it once was. Obama is not superman, but he does bring promise for a better nation. We just have to let him do it and not bother him. The best thing about him is that he doesn't let rumors and pety things distract him and the job he's doing. That's why he is our president.

Why some women depend on their men....

I have to say it like it is... this week, I have sit back and watched my friends tell me how they had to do this and that for their guy or wait for him to pick them up, etc. I mean i've been there, and you fall in love and you don't want to seperate for them. And when you do seperate, you feel like you have ran out of air to breathe and just can't be or function without them. But to tell you the truth, from what I have learned, if you are depending like that on someone then you need to let go of them. No one should be with someone that has them right where they want them. That has them waiting by the phone for their call or needs their boyfriend to drive them places or pay for their bills. WHat happen to independant women?? That's why I love NE-YO's "miss independant" and "She got her own", he knowns about real women and respects them for being that way and doesn't try to buy them or rule them. I worry for my friends because some men seem nice nd wanting to take care fo their women, but then turn around and control them or even worse, beat them because they can. I have friends that went through that too. It's not a pretty sight and you don't even know what to say after that. And you definitely don't want to say at that moment "I told you so", because it's too late for it. There are some women out there that have very low self esteem that they just rather stay by their guy than be with family or even friends. Then those are the women who are left alone or end up being in abusive relationships. I think women shouldn't have to depend on any guy or anyone else but themselves. If we let our guard down, then we show that we are weak and will attract men that are controling and like weak women. Not all men are like this, but there is a percentage. It just relly bothers me and I wish I didn't know girls like that. If you know someone like that, don't ignore them. Hear or help them out bec uase sometimes they need someone to open their eyes or just help them get out of that slump that they are in. They need a reminder of how strong and independant they can be again. if you end up alone, it will be ok, I know this for a fact. I wish some women didn't depend on their men so much. Then there would be equality and no one would over power any one else.

I don't have any kids why should I have to take care of Nadya Suleman's babies???

Nayda Suleman, or as everyone knows her as the women who had 8 babies a month ago, has caused quite a controversy. Not only did she give birth to 8 babies, but she already had 6 children before that. I mean who does this woman think she is? Well now in days, apparently she is idolizing her role model Angelina Jolie. How scary that she looks just like her and using tax payers money on her surgeries and to feed her children. Most people consider this woman a MONSTER! I do too. If you can not take care of the 6 children you already have by yourself, what makes you think that you can support 8 more children?! i'M sure many people want to know exactly what goes on in that woman's small brain. How and why did Suleman decide to have all 14 children by herself and with no help from any man. It's not like she couldn't find a good man to marry and have children with. So because of her actions, the state of California's taxpayers will be supporting these children in the absentence of their fathers. Is that fair? Did the people who are in her life and knew how many babies she was about to give birth to, try to stop her from making a huge mistake or is this a cry for help and publicity. It seems a bit of a publicity act because for the past month, that's all the news seems to talk about. Now there have been death threats to Suleman because there are people out there who feel that what she did is horrible, is exploiting those poor children the wrong way, and do not feel that they should pay to feed her babies. Suleman is an able woman who can work and take care of her children and does not need others money. She brought this upon herself, she should be able to resolve this problem by herself. Think of all those women out there who re not able to conceive a child of their own or that their partner can not fertile. Do you think they should have to contribute for the children thhis woman had and that they were not able to have? I think not and if I ever met her, she would need a new nose job!

The day that I dread most every year.... Valentine's Day

Well as you all know, it's that time of the year again. When you go to any store and you are walking and looking for what you need when you come across an aisle with hearts and objects that are in pink, red, and purple. Yup you guessed it, Valentine's day is approaching. Valentine's day is a day loved by most, well the ones who are in love or something like that. Then there are those who do not like Valentine's day, like me, and dread it when it approaches. Thank god it only comes once a year, but some people take it too seriously and celebrate the whole month of February. Most guys dread it because they have to go out and buy something girly or try to figure out what their girlfriend might want. While girls go out and buy outfits and get glammed up and make plans if their boyfriend hasn't already. It's just too much to stress over for one day, don't you think? Then there are those who don't have a Valentine and get depressed over it. Well don't be! Go out and make the best of it. Make plans with friends who don't have Valentine's either and do something non-valentineish. Try to stray from restaurants and movie theaters with romantic movies. If you are one of those who rather be alone, then rent a movie or do something to keep your mind off what day it is. Whether you are or are not celebrating this Hallmark invented holiday... just keep in mind it's only one day. Make the best of it, celebrate it with others or just make it an I LOVE ME DAY!

the Circus....is it really the greatest show on earth?

When someone talks about the circus, you think, lots of clowns and amazing animals. You will see elephants, lions, tigers, and bears oh my!! Even if you see clowns and acrobats soaring through the air with the greatest of ease, it's not really as great as it seems. The animals in the circus are mistreated and are forced to do tricks against their will. How would you like to be made to chase frisbees or jump through joops of fire? I'm sure they don't like it either. I also thought that the animals seemed unhappy in the circus, but it wasn’t really brought to my attention until last week when I went to the circus and someone from the Animal right foundation of Florida handed me a flier. It spoke about the cruelty that went on in the circus to these poor creatures. When you go to the website, it shows you interviews and clips of what certain people said about the show and how elephants were whipped. Is this the kind of show we want our children to watch? So that they can grow up thinking it’s right to mistreat animals or even kill them? That is the foundation’s purpose, to prevent people from going to these shows and to one day put an end to the animal cruelty.

There's so much going on in this world right now but we should all take the time to spread the word to help prevent others from letting the animal abuse to continue. To take a look at the website for yourself, check this out : http://www.animalrightsflorida.org/Ringling.htm
