Obama reaching out to all types of media....

On Tuesday night, March 24, President Obama gave a news conference that was televised across the country. This conference was a little different than the past conferences because he skipped over several prominent newspapers and newsmagazines to call on Kevin Chappell, a senior editor at Ebony magazine. Besides the conference he also invited Black Enterprise magazine for their first print interview and gave a black talk show host one of his first radio interviews. This month, he invited 50 black newspaper publishers to meet with him at the White House. That was the first time an Ebony reporter had been invited to question a president at a prime-time news conference. This shows that President Obama is trying to reach out to all types of media. By reaching out to Journalists of the black and Hispanic media, President Obama will have even more people celebrating him and not discriminating him by saying he’s only choosing to speak to general media. When he goes on Hispanic news channels like Univision and demonstrates his Spanish-speaking skills that make him stand out to those Hispanics that votes for him and shows the one that didn’t that he can relate to them as well even if he’s not Hispanic. By doing this, Black Entertainment Television, Essence, Ebony, are having journalists do presidential coverage’s per show or issue which shows their support to our President Obama.

Crazy fan stalking a "Star"...

The news reported that on Tuesday, March 24, Robert O’ Ryan was arrested on the set of Dancing with the Stars for jumping the security fence to try to get to Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson. Apparently he is a fan of seventeen-year-old Johnson and drove from Florida to see her in person. When police investigated his car, they found duct tape, loaded guns, and love letters. Johnson handled the situation very well and continued on with the show. The 34-year-old O'Ryan was charged Thursday with one felony count of stalking and two misdemeanor counts of carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle and pleaded not guilty on his charges. A restraining order has been put by Johnson’s parents from O’ Ryan. There is a pending trial and if convicted, the stalker can be sentenced for up to four years in prison. It must be horrible to be Shawn Johnson right now and be afraid of this stalker coming after her again. Hopefully nothing happens and she continues doing well on “dancing with the star”. Since Shawn Johnson was in the Olympics, she has become a celebrity so it’s no wonder that she has gotten such a fan base. It’s ok to have fans but not creepy fans that want to have babies with you when you are underage, just like her stalker claimed to have said. There is a price to fame.

Could Natasha Richardson been saved if she had a helicopter??

It's been on the news all week and Natasha Richardson's death became official on Wednesday. Richardson died due to a fall on a beginner's slopes in Quebec but she didn't die right there. After Richardson was taken to a hospital in Montreal on Tuesday and then was flown in to a New York hospital for further examination. Richardson suffered of epidural hematoma due to blunt force trauma to the head. Now ABC's news is saying that maybe she could have been saved if they might have used a helicopter to get her to the hospital right after she fell. Even though she got back up, she told her husband Liam Neeson that she wasn't feeling well. Richardson should have been attended right after the fact because now she is no longer with us. The thing is that Quebec does not have a medical helicopter assistance and the drive to the trauma center they took her was 2 1/2 hours away. That's way too long of a drive and especially under Richardson's condition. It's no wonder that she suffered the way she did and when her family finally saw her, she was no longer there. Unfortunately in this situation, there is no one to blame or punish for this tragedy. May Natasha Richardson rest in peace and condolences goes out to her family.

A tragedy and possibly an end to an athletes career…

This past Saturday, football player of the Cleveland Browns Donte’ Stallworth, was driving the MacArthur Causeway and struck and killed a man by the name of Mario Reyes. Reyes was just coming off from working as an overnight crane operator and trying to cross the street to catch a bus home just after 7 a.m. Reyes died instantly at the scene. Whether Stallworth was under the influence or not is still to be determined and is under close investigation. The Miami Herald has a video on their website that shows Stallworth being given a sobriety test and Miami Beach rescue workers trying to help Reyes. This obviously made headlines all through the news because Stallworth is a star athlete and this could not only sentence him to a lifetime in prison, it could also damage his career in the NFL forever. There is definitely a serious matter but there is nothing that can be taken back, Reyes is gone. Would it be terrible if Stallworth gets off easy with just a slap in the wrist and nothing more? Even if he is really sorry and was not under the influence? All these things will be examined over the next couple of weeks. But what can not be taken care of is the loss of Mario Reyes to his family and loved ones. Hopefully this investigation brings some light onto this tragedy and hopefully Stallworth pays for what he did. Because Stallworth’s condolences will not make up for the loss he is blamed for.

Justice is finally served for Anna Nicole Smith..

All over the news you see that Howard K. Stern was arrested, along with two other doctors named Drs. Khristine Eroshevich and Sandeep Kapoor, for giving Anna Nicole Smith perscription drugs with out them being perscribed, which led to her death in 2007. The once playboy model and guess model Anna Nicole, had an addiction to popping pills and it was reported to have gotten worse when her 20 year old son, Daniel Smith, passed away in 2006. Daniel Smith also died of a drug overdose, a couple days after Anna Nicole gave birth to a baby girl. Howard K. Stern, during the time of Smith's baby girl's birth, was claiming to be the little girl's father. The real father was Anna Nicole Smith's photographer boyfriend, Larry Birkhead. Smith was made a star by her deceased husband, J. Howard Marshall II, the Texas oil billionaire, that was an older man that fell in love with her and took her in. Despite the horrible things she did or said to others, Anna Nicole Smith was a human being and was surrounded by evil people that wanted to ruin her career and destroy her emotionally. And they did, only much worse. Stern and the doctors knew that she was not well and yet they "pumped" these drugs into her until Smith got out of hand and O.D. herself. It's sad that she ended like that because who knows how far her career would have taken her had she not let herself go like that. Also by being so self destructive, possibly her son picked up on it as well, and that's how he ended his life. The news is stating that Howard K. Stern was the enabler for perscribing a thousand pills to Anna Nicole Smith. This could probably close the case on Ms. Anna Nicole Smith's death and possibly her son Daniel Smith as well. Justice has been served and may Anna rest in piece now.

The most popular and most talked about movie of the year!

Even before the Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire was the most talked about movie in 08-09. It's been in magazines, newspapers, and television channels; the astounding success this movie has had world -wide is incredible. At first glance at the commercials, the movie seems strange and not interesting. But after viewing it, the movie just changes the perspective you first had of it and you end up liking it so much. The critics had it right and that's why it won so many awards. It seems everyone came out of the movie theater dancing and having nothing but good remarks on the film. The fact that it's not an American movie and it became such a hit at the box office was amazing. The film had a different style for the fims most americans are use to seeing. It's about a boy who grows up with a girl friend, falls in love with her, and are then seperated. The boy goes out on a search to find his true love by going on Who wants to be a millionaire in India. Danny Boyle, the director of this film, is a genius. To come up with such an interesting story plot and film it the way he did. For those who haven't seen it, don't waste time and go rent it. i don't always agree with what I see or hear in the media, but this time, I felt the exact same way they did. The best film of 2008 goes to Slumdog Millionaire.

Why dont they leave OBAMA alone!?

Since Obama officially became our president back in January, some people argue that he has not done much. That our brand new president has done nothing of his presidential duties. They say he's all talk on the television and that he hasn't acted on anything he has said. Just like last week, president Obama was caught at a Chicago Bulls basketball game. The news follows him everywhere like papazazzis when he's trying to live his life like a normal person. Can't president Obama go to a Bulls games in his hometown and drink a beer as well!! He's just like the rest of us, except he's our new president. Then there are other reports about Obama is now homosexual, I mean c'mon. Obama is always seen with Michelle and his lovely daughters. I know that doesn't mean anything, but how affectionate he is with his wife does mean something. It just bothers me that people are writing such idiotic things about our new leader. They should be instead having faith in him and be happy a change has come to our nation. There are so many ignorant and racists people out there. It pisses me off! I only hope these stupid rumors cease and they let our president do what he has to do... at his own pace. Some people do not realize that Bush took 8 years to ruin this country and bring us to where we are right now. It's going to take a long time for this country to be the way it once was. Obama is not superman, but he does bring promise for a better nation. We just have to let him do it and not bother him. The best thing about him is that he doesn't let rumors and pety things distract him and the job he's doing. That's why he is our president.
